The aquatic wealth of Los Realejos is manifest in the more than 50 water galleries and wells that have been built since the beginning of the past century. Often, these were fed from nearby springs. Many of these still exist today, where the locals used to fetch the liquid element and which were later converted into public fountains, washing areas and troughs for animals. Some of them are conserved as part of our heritage, such as the fountains of Dornajo and Dornajito in Icod El Alto. Others disappeared with the installation of the municipal water network.
