Los Realejos has become in recent years a great outdoor urban art museum that has more than 60 works spread throughout the Municipality.
This initiative, coordinated by the Artistic Schools of Los Realejos – AFAVER, aims to promote art in recreational, educational and public spaces. It is easy to find in any space large murals on the walls of buildings, stairs, canopies or various decorated street furniture.
It is an idea launched in 2016 with a training workshop in urban art, to which specific commissions have been added to different artists, and it is in 2019 the “SEISDEDOCE Festival” with which a project that faces the creation of 6 new works each year, starring various national and European artists, with a very different theme, in which surreal scenes, invented animals and reinterpreted vegetation abound.
Los Realejos is right now a benchmark for urban art in Spain, being considered the municipality with the most murals per inhabitant in the Canary Islands. Thanks to this project, Los Realejos has become a point of cultural and artistic attraction, as well as a must-see for tourists.
Discovering their locations and uniting the different itineraries that can arise from the visit is one of the most rewarding challenges for lovers of painting and art in general.
