Nowadays like before, it is the result of roasting and grinding cereal and it is present in breakfast time, stews and meat stews; one of its popular variety is the scalding maize mail, added to the hot soup and served with a leaf of mint; it is also a food of the current home and hotel pastrymaking.

Regarded as a Quality Food by the European Union, the roasted meal maize is present in every place of Europe and America where Canarian emigrants are settled, and it can be bought in Miami shops, due to many Canarian emigrants take it even in its traditional forms.
