In Tenerife there has been a correct combination of the traditional cooking with the new culinary tendencies. Besides a large catalogue of international menus, the cookers have got the best advantage of the fruits of a rich land, which offers all over the year fresh vegetables and the delicious sea foods of the Atlantic Ocean; the most popular, the horse – mackerel, which stands fir the name of the native people from Santa Cruz, the main city. Its cooking employs the coriander as seasoning; several varieties of potatoes are cultivated, among them the so called “black potatoes” and “beatiful potatoes” and a large variety of wines.
The traditional markets have turned into the best shop window for the home – made products. The one of Our Lady of Africa in Santa Cruz, a good place to get the original products under a low prize. The one of La Laguna, of Tacoronte, Granadilla de Abona. Apart from the Island Wine Cellars of Tenerife (Tacoronte) and Valleoro (La Orotava). But at the same time these samples are recurred in all the regions of the Canarian territory, where the agricultural productions and the home – made ones have always spread out.
